On fascias, soffits & guttering
Fascias and soffits do two jobs. The functional job is protecting the roof timbers from weather and providing ventilation into the roof space. The cosmetic job is finishing the edge of the roof tidily - and because they run along the entire eaves of the house, they have a bigger impact on how a property looks than people realise.
If your fascias are rotten, peeling, or you've still got old painted timber that needs constant maintenance, replacing them with modern uPVC is one of the highest-impact, lowest-disruption improvements you can make to the outside of a house.
Why uPVC
Modern uPVC fascias and soffits don't rot, don't need painting, and stay looking smart for 20+ years. They're fitted with stainless steel fixings so there's no rust streaking, and they come in a proper range of colours and finishes - not just white. We can match traditional Georgian profiles, modern square profiles, and everything in between.
Colours and finishes
We work with the main UK manufacturers, so colour choice is genuinely wide: white, cream, anthracite grey, black, oak woodgrain, rosewood, and several others. For most Nottingham properties, white is the standard choice, but anthracite grey has become very popular for properties going for a more modern look. We'll show you samples when we quote.
New gutter systems
A new fascia is the right time to fit a new gutter system. Old cast iron and early plastic gutters often sag, leak at the joints, and discharge water in places it shouldn't go. Modern uPVC gutter systems are lightweight, joint-sealed properly, and easy to maintain. We fit them with the correct fall toward the downpipes so they drain cleanly.
Downpipes and outlets
We replace downpipes as part of the gutter work, route them to the right drainage outlets, and fit shoes at the bottom to direct water away from the building. Where downpipes connect to underground drainage, we make sure the connection is sealed properly.
Soffit ventilation
Roof spaces need ventilation. Without it, condensation builds up, timbers rot, and insulation suffers. Modern soffit boards either include ventilation strips or we fit ventilation grilles as part of the installation. Either way, the roof gets the airflow it needs.
Coordinating with re-roofs
If you're having a re-roof done, that's the natural time to replace fascias and gutters as well - the scaffold is already up, access is straightforward, and you get the whole exterior finished as one job. We'll happily quote fascia work as part of a re-roof package.
